Temple’s Arcadia Theater was built in 1928 as a live performance and silent movie showplace. Sound equipment was added a year or so later.

Until well into the 1950’s, there were live performances including such names as Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Robert Mitchum and Sandra Dee.

After passing through several ownerships, the Arcadia was closed in 1978, almost 50 years to the day after its opening.

Now, almost 30 years after its closing, plans are being made to restore the theater as an entertainment venue, alongside the Hawn Hotel.
