The 2011 Community Profile & Business Referral Guide showcases all the community assets that make Temple so special, and spotlights businesses that make significant contributions to the economic prosperity, and quality of place enjoyed by our citizens.
According to the recently released 2010 U.S Census, Temple’s population has now reached 67,000, a 22% increase over the 2000 population of 55,000.
The foundation for this growth is found in the healthcare industry, which is the single largest catalyst for economic growth in Temple. The value of the healthcare sector will continue to grow and prosper with the upcoming addition of a children’s hospital that will serve patients throughout Central Texas and across the state.
Healthcare, combined with an emerging bioscience and technology community, strong transportation infrastructure, and strength in the manufacturing and distribution sectors, collectively insure that Temple will continue as a national leader in job creation.
Public and private schools located in and around Temple further enhance our quality of place. Four different independent school districts lie within the Temple city limits, and following graduation from high school, students have multiple options for degree work in two or four year programs. High school instruction features multiple vocational programs for those students more interested in joining the workforce upon graduation. Continuing
education classes are plentiful for adults who may wish to enhance their occupational skills, or embark on a different career path.
No description of our community would be complete without mention of Ft. Hood, Texas. The economic impact of the country’s most populated military installation is immeasurable, and Ft. Hood personnel and their families are major contributors to our workforce. Community outreach efforts most visible at the public school level further underscore the positive impact Ft. Hood brings to our community.
As in years past, we want to acknowledge all the advertisers in the 2011 Community Profile & Business Referral Guide. Without their commitment, we would be unable to provide a publication of such high quality. When and where you can, we strongly recommend your patronage of these advertisers.
Today in Temple we celebrate our growth, our diversity, and the future we see that glows so bright!
