The Greater Temple Area's population is over 111,000 - and a  significant portion of this Central Texas population routinely commutes from surrounding towns and communities on a daily basis to take advantage of Temple's job market and business environment. It is estimated that during the week, Temple's population alone swells to more than 90,000 persons each day.

Ft. Hood, in nearby Killeen, Texas, is the largest military installation in the US with 45,000 active duty soldiers and 72,000 on post. The retirees and exiting military personnel provides a constant source of workers for the Temple business community, manufacturing, medical and distribution industries.
